Preliminary piece Info++

We have started the editing of our music video (on a mac) and since it's only 1 minute, we have almost finished. The lip-sync has worked well but the hardest part so far is the editing on the beat. As our shot lengths are changing, at the moment there are some gaps in the order we need to fill. After this, the video should run smoothly and hopefully look good.

We have designed the cd cover using this picture.

Since the song is in a country style we have chosen the acoustic guitar and also a font to match.

Due to time issues we didn't use the nature area but did finish filming.
All we need to do now is edit the film and match it to the music.
We also need to finalise the CD cover design on Coral.

If possible we are planning to use the nature area, as a set in our video.
Also we plan to start shooting tomorrow (wed)
The other locations we plan to use are a friend's house / driveway and garden.

Music Videos research...

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss- Gone Gone Gone
This is the real video for the song we chose. It starts with both the woman and the man walking into the room through shiny silver curtains. The room has disco balls hanging from the ceiling. They walk to the centre of the room, towards each other. The main shot types used are tracking shots, cuts, zooms and pans.
The tracking shots follow the singers as they walk into different rooms. After the disco ball room they walk into a room full of inflatable people. After this room they both walk onto a stage where they sing with a guitarist in the middle of them. There are mostly cuts and pans used to see the people on the stage and the people dancing at the front.
Towards the end there is a mixture of the different sets and different colours, which throughout the characters both wear the same black clothes. Also the only characters seen in the video are the main man and woman and the guitarist, all the other dancers were silhouettes.

David Wilson - We Have Band "You Came Out"

This video uses just the faces of 4 people. Throughout the video the people's faces are painted in different colours and designs. The woman, who seems to be the main character, is painted to look like she is singing without opening her mouth. The shots seen are the frames that each shot has used to be put together, which must have taken a long time. Each shot of each face with paint on has been edited together very fast to create the effect that the face's colours are changing e.g. at one point a man looks like he's crying as blue paint runs down his face. Towards the end the paint runs backwards, as the shots are reversed and the end is the same as the beginning.

Afterlife by Avenged Sevenfold

This video mainly uses the colours black and white and the contrast between, without being shot in black and white. The camera shots are mostly panning and very fast cuts between shots, also editing on the beat. There isn't really a narrative story as such but there is other shots, away from the band set up, which show members doing different things. One running towards the camera against a white background, another with a spider, one dancing, one letting doves fly and one laughing holding a skull, like Shakespeare. All theses seem quite random and not really connected to each other. The camera also pans and fades into another shot of the same set up but the band members are wearing different clothes and the background changes between black and white. Also because the song is called 'Afterlife' the black and white could represent heaven and hell.

CD Covers...

This is a country CD which is similar style to the song we have for our music video. The cover shows the artist Tim McGraw but mainly him in a black tee-shirt and black cowboy hat, which represents the country style. The shot of him may suggest that he is shy, as his hat covers most of his face. The CD title is also a limited edition of his greatest hits, suggesting that he has had many hits already.

This CD cover has the band name in the centre and the title underneath. The title of the CD 'Leave this Town' links to the picture of the open road and suggests leaving somewhere. The picture shows a small town which the band probably know. The band is also seen faintly in the background, showing who they are, with the lead singer at the front.

This is the Wicked soundtrack cover, for the songs from the stage show.
The cover shows the 2 witches, the one in black the 'wicked' one and the one in white the 'good' or more innocent one. The cover's title is also on the side of the 'Wicked' witch also suggesting her evil. This is contrasted by the whispering of the 'good' witch, as the picture suggests she maybe helping her or spreading gossip. There are also small images of flying monkeys on the 'wicked' side, relating to the Wizard of Oz. The 'wicked' side of the cover also takes up more room than the 'good' side, showing the witch's importance to the plot of the show and that it's named after her.
